Message From the Pulpit: Living For Christ

Text: 1Cor. 6:16-20 says, 16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. 17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

Galatians 2:20 says, “20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

Any man, woman or anyone who is not living for Christ is without doubt living instead for satan, self or in sin. Those in this category are yet to know the worth of life because no matter where you are, home is the best and no matter what you have away from home, it cannot be compared to the same situation at home. Whether East, West, South, North or Europe, America or any other part of the world, home still remains the best.

And so, you should note, Christ Jesus is the home of every believer all over the world. If you are in this world and you are not in Christ, no matter what you have, it is counted as nothing and you are heading for eternal doom.

John 15:4-5 says, 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”

If you are in Christ you are empowered to achieve, for what you get without Him is dangerous and can lead you to death. As many as are claiming to be born again, Christians whose names are in the book of life should endeavour to live for Christ so that the purpose for which Jesus Christ came into this world would be fulfilled in their lives and they would not only be joyful in this world but also make heaven at last. So if you are born again then you must live the rest of your life in Christ and for Christ.

  • Point A: LIVING FOR CHRIST AND BENEFIT

When anyone is living for Christ he or she ought to be after the will of God in all things and all you do is to please Him. Such a person would always endeavour to be holy within and without as to please the Master, he or she would want to follow after the footsteps of our Lord Jesus Christ.

John 4:31-34 says, “ In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.
32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of. 33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat? 34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.”

If any man is living for Christ such person will be bent on doing the will of God and he/she would always be mindful of pleasing God first and not self or what pleases the people of the world or what glorifies satan.

John 8:12 says, “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

Follow after God’s will and teaching and obey him and you will surely not live in darkness and never be destroyed.

Any person living for Christ will live and do everything like Jesus did while here on earth as we have seen in the foregoing scriptures John 4:31-34 says, “In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat. 32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of. Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat? Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.”

John 8:12 says, “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

John 8:29 says, “And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.”

Jesus at all times did the will of God and it is recorded that God was with him always and similarly if you as a child of the kingdom of God will follow after Christ’s footsteps God will be with you and none shall be able to contend with you and you will live victoriously and make heaven at last.

Anyone living for Christ must endeavour to be holy, separate themselves from sinner, be sinless. Every true believer in Christ, who will follow after Him must aspire to copy the lifestyle of our Lord Jesus Christ as can be seen in Hebrew 7:26 says, “26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;” As many who would want to live there after our role model Jesus Christ will do the work of God like soul winning; counselling, healing, praying, preaching the word of God, casting out devils, they must be holy, live righteously and as a matter emphasis do the work of God.

1Peter 1:15-16 says, “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.”

God commands as many that are living for him to be holy in all areas of life i.e in words, thoughts, action, disposition, comportment, dressing, inside and outside. Such person should go to what our Lord did while he was here in his earthly ministry.

Acts 10:38 says, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.”

If you are living for Christ your life must be characterized with doing good works and not evil God must be first in all things you find yourself doing in this life if you are living for him being his ambassadors.

Luke 19:13 says, “And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.” The Lord calls you into the office he was into to be worthy ambassadors until he returns to rapture the prepared destined for the prepared place called heaven.

We should live the rest of our lives for him because he has purchased us with his precious blood at the cross of calvary as recorded in 2Cor. 5:20 says, “Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.” All born again believers are representatives of our Lord Jesus Christ, hence we are known by the normendature ‘ Christian’ i.e christlike. If your lifestyle is not in accordance with the will of God, not in conformity with the lifestyle of our Lord Jesus Christ it shows that you are not a Christian. And if you must be perfect as he wishes us then we must endeavour to be like him as recorded in Luke 6:40 says, “The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.” And so my beloved, as many who are reading this message, we should try to live our lives for Christ if our claims are that we are Christians.

Matt. 5:13-16 says, “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. 14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

Christian are the ones who make this world tasteful, they are the ones who provide light in a dark world the kind of lifestyle, the good work you engage yourself into demonstrate the light of God in this world just as Jesus Christ while in his earthly ministry went about doing good and God was with him. Believers are enjoined to copy our Lord Jesus Christ so that God will be glorified before others.

John 9:1-5 says, And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? 3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. 4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

You are the light of the world and your life therefore should reflect the belief, ideals, goals and works of God so that God himself shall be glorified. The Lord will never depart from you if you are living for Christ.

John 14:1-3 says, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

You should be mindful of heaven as good representatives of Christ who is sure of a better home than this world.

Matt. 6:33 says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Whatever a child of God does he must seek God’s kingdom first and his righteousness, the will of God is always placed first and whatever you are looking for, God will do it.

Ensure that you are living in Christ, living for Christ and endeavour to do the will of God and not yourself and flesh, and not the will of satan which does not glorify God.

  • Point B: THE DANGER OF LIVING WITHOUT CHRIST

Brethren, any person not living in Christ or living his/her life outside Christ such person will invariably be living in flesh i.e sin and living for satan. This is a great danger because he/she cannot avoid crisis, troubles as a result of being devoid of the divine protection that comes from the Lord to genuine believers of our Lord Jesus Christ.

John 16:33 says, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

A disciple of Christ is assured of peace and cover from heaven that guarantees victory but any who is not in Christ suffers many tribulations, crisis, troubles and there is not a shred of safety anywhere for such person. I therefore urge you to live your life for Christ and in Christ and it shall be well with you and for you in Jesus name.

If one is not for Christ, he or she is for satan and would be living for the devil. This type of people can never save any soul, they may be going to church but inspite of what they are confessing they are willing to tell lies and do everything contrary to the truth to the will of God and can never enter God’s kingdom; which is rather unfortunate because it is certainly not the wish of God for you not to make and so my prayer for all such people is that through this message you will retrace your mind, steps and surrender totally to the will of God in your life in Jesus name.

1Cor. 3:1-4 says, And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. 3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? 4 For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?”

As many who claim they are Christians but continue to live in sin should take advantage of this message and surrender their lives totally to Jesus Christ and also begin to live their lives for Christ Jesus.

  • OUR RESPONSE AND BENEFIT

You should make up your mind to live the rest of your life for our Lord Jesus Christ by submitting totally to his words and his will and as you do this your Christian life will be graceful and full of christlike fruits.

Hebrews 1:9 says, “Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.”

To attract the Spirit of God upon you over and above others you must hate unrighteousness and all forms of iniquities and evil with a perfect hatred and the grace of God will be upon you mightily.

Hebrews 10:7 says, “Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.” You must do the will of God in accordance with the scriptures and nothing else. You must love good and encourage good, and hate evil and discourage evil.
The unrighteous shall never inherit the kingdom of God. Anybody who continues in sin is committing adultery with the Spirit of the devil because having been bought over with the blood of Jesus you are married to him and so you cannot afford to be living a double standard kind of living, you are a Christian on one hand and on the other you are into one or all kinds of sin; God forbid. Let us therefore live for him and in him, for we are the temple of the Lord and cannot afford to go into the sin of adultery because we are married to Christ.

Rev. 4:11 says, “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”

Remember that we are all created for the pleasure of God and to do his bidding and not otherwise i.e to serve ourselves, the world or satan.

Matt. 4:10 says, “Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.”

Anybody who refuses to serve God and do his will, to live his/her life for the pleasure and will of God will find himself/herself doing the will of satan and glorifying same contrary to the will of God, you will never see the kingdom of God.

As you begin to live for him, you are assured of a life of holiness, peace, protection and you will go on bearing fruits in every area of your life in Jesus name.

John 15:8,16 says “Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. 16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.”

If you abide in our Lord Jesus Christ you will bear much fruits and also bring more lost souls into the kingdom of God. The truth is very scarce in these times and so you had better take advantage of the truth of this message to surrender totally to the will of God and begin to live for him so you are not damned thinking you are standing, whereas you had already fallen. Examine your life again beloved. who is your life glorifying God or satan, his angels and demons? Is your life bringing glory to God? Judge yourself now before it is too late.

Let us decide from this moment to live the rest of our lives for our Lord Jesus Christ and do his will always in all things and to finish his work, God will never leave you as can be confirmed in the book of John 8:29 which says, “29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.”

Amend your ways and ensure that nothing is standing between you and God, and decide to live for him and stand by him, surely this God of Chosen will stand by you. .

For sinners, backsliders and compromisers reading this message they should confess and forsake their sins and promise God never to go back to them because the word of God says in Proverbs 28:13 says, “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”

Anything unrighteous is sin according to 1John 5:17(a) says, “All unrighteousness is sin:”

And no unrepentant sinner shall enter into God’s kingdom as written in 1Cor. 6:9-10 says,
“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”

Beloved run away from evil, hate evil and do not encourage evil rather love righteousness and encourage same. Begin to live your life for Christ and this God we are preaching will give you the grace and the privileges that come with identifying and living for him because when you seek God’s kingdom and his righteousness all other things shall be added unto you according to Matt. 6:33 says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” in Jesus name.
