Message From the Pulpit: He that shall receive from the Lord

Psalm 24:1-5 says, “The earth is the LORD’s, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods. Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Many people pray but never get results.

Sometimes they blame God and even satan for their unanswered prayers. What they do not know is that their problem originates from them.

Isaiah 1:2-16 states, “Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me. 3 The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master’s crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.
4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.
5 Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.
6 From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.
7 Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.
8 And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city. 9 Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.
10 Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.
11 To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.
12 When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?
13 Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.
14 Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.
15 And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.
16 Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;

Isaiah 59:1-3 says, “Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.”

These sections of the scriptures show that it your sins and not God, the Pastor or that man, that is responsible for your problem, but your sins. You need to examine your life, your iniquities and livestyle are responsible for your troubles.

1Peter 1:15-16 “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” As your creator is holy, your speech, your actions and life as a whole must be holy.

Remember without holiness, God cannot answer your prayer, without holiness, all your prayers and fasting will constitute noise in heaven. You must endeavour to retain holiness in your relationship with God, that is why the prophets of old before they met God ensured that they were prepared and that no unrighteousness stood in their way.

Make sure that you appear before Him with a heart that is not condemned; in such state heaven will open unto you.

Amos 4:12 says, “Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.” If you adopt this in your life, your prayers shall be answered prayers.

2Chronicles 7:13-15 says, “If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.” If you amend your ways, I am assuring you that God’s ear will be open to your prayers.
Isaiah 1:16-19 says, “16 Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:” If you want God to bless you, then examine your life. Remember, without righteousness, no eyes shall see the Lord.

Hebrew 12:14 “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:” Brethren, as you do this, the Lord will bless you in all things.

  • THE REASONS AND QUALIFICATION

Many people who complain about unanswered prayers commit all sorts of evil and abomination; they commit adultery, fornication, abortion and so on. No matter your fasting and serious prayer, you cannot bribe God, all these things mean nothing to God. Even such serious prayer often led to sickness or illness. You cannot use a blunt knife to cut or hew down a tree.

This is the problem confronting many people, when they pray or go to church, they get or acquire more problem. The reason is because they are approaching God in unrighteousness.
Brethren, these people do these things because they do not know the ways or principle of God.

Rather than murmuring about the unanswered prayers, the Bible says that, “the entrance of the Word giveth life”, and Jn 8:32 says “that you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.”

Isaiah 1:15 says, “And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.”

Isaiah 59;1-3 reiterates, “Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.” Remember that sin is the chief problem of man in the world.

In Proverbs 14:34 “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. Sin brings demotion and backwardness.

Proverbs 21:27 says, “The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?” God does not answer abominable prayers. So many people are wasting their time in prayer in vain and have only succeeded in provoking the wrath of God. The problem will be multiplied rather than solved.

In Isaiah 1:4,15 the Bible says, “4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward. Verse 15 “And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.” Anyone expecting healing, deliverance or breakthrough from the Lord must be genuinely repented

He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.”

All materials, financial and spiritual blessings are the inheritance of the children of God and you must benefit from it, you must be in a righteous state. As we read in the passage above, there is a qualification and criteria for those who seek God’s blessing.

If you are subject to God (inwardly and outwardly), you are living according to the will of God and the moment you lift your voice in prayer, heaven will be attentive unto you.

If you are like this, He will make you qualify for His divine glory from above. Approach Him with a clean heart; maintain purity.

Isaiah 1:16-19 says, “Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:”

Amend your ways and reconcile yourself with Jesus Christ; make sure you are a child of God whose name is written in the book of life. If you will not do anything that is contrary to the will of God, if you do not compromise yourself and return to your former life; i.e the worldly ways of sin, God will bless you as his own child being the father of the earth. For Matt 6:33 says, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and its righteousness and all other things shall be added unto you.”

1Peter 1:15-16, it states “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.”

Brethren, God answers prayers, that is the reason why He instructs us to ask and to pray
Jeremiah 33:3 reads, “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”

If you will amend your ways today and lead a life that pleases God in your daily relationship with Him, I assure that He will answer your prayers.

Our God is a convenant keeping God, the Holy and Righteous God; He does not lie. You need to be holy in deed and heaven-minded. When you are in trouble at the point of distress, God will identify with you since you’re his child. If you maintain holiness, every desire of yours will be granted. Maintain that standard and you will see the demonstration of God’s power in your life.

Isaiah 65:21-24 reads “And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them. They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them. And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.” You don’t need to struggle with prayers and fasting, just key in to the standard of God and before you call upon Him, He will answer.

John 14:13-14 says, “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” And as you do this, He will bless you in Jesus name.

  • OUR RESPONSE AND BENEFITS

Matthew 5:8 says, “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” Brethren, many people have been testifying and it is time for you to join the class of testifiers, when?, after you have read this message.

Exodus 19:10-11 reads “And the LORD said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and tomorrow, and let them wash their clothes, And be ready against the third day: for the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.”

We should remember that those who have maintained righteousness in the past were blessed abundantly.

Abraham lived righteously and was blessed by God in all things. Read Genesis 24:1 “And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: and the LORD had blessed Abraham in all things.”

Think about Isaac and Jacob whom God blessed tremendously. Jacob became a great nation and Isaac was the seed through whom the earth has been blessed.

Joseph maintained righteous life and refused to compromise or defile himself with his master’s – Portiphar’s wife; he maintained righteousness and at the end of his prison days, God exalted him from being a prisoner to become the prime minister in Egypt. It was a promotion in the time of famine which God used to preserve the Israelites.

Let us maintain righteousness and God will bless us accordingly. Messach, Shedrach and Abednego refused to serve Nebuchadnezzar’s god – or bow to his graven image; they were cast into the fire and it burnt the ropes they were bound with. God came in the form of an angle (man) in the fire and protected them, so that not even the edges of the clothes were frayed by the flames.
Nebuchadnezzar, amazed, ordered the servants of the Most High God” to come out. His men were consumed at the edge of the furnace while the servants of the Most High God were promoted. He instituted that everyone in Babylon should worship the God of Shedrach, Mesach and Abednego.

Brethren, you will pass through fire, and persecutions as a child of God; but if you maintain righteousness, God will deliver you and use you to deliver your people.

Daniel, when thrown into the lion’s den was sitting calmly with wild lions. He didn’t even sustain a scratch.

Samuel said that there will be no rain but that thunder will come down to confirms his word and it happened according to his word. The great prophet Elijah, in his days when the children of Israel turned away from God, he said to the king, “By my word, there shall be no rain for three and half years”, and he went away and God stood by it.

If you live in righteousness and command anything, heaven will uphold it. Remember the case of Peter, as he walked through the streets, his shadow was healing people. He didn’t even pray for them. In the days of God’s power, His people shall be willing. If you want to receive blessing from God, you must purify your heart.

Psalm 24:3-5 says, “Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.”

Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” For those who are backsliders and sinners, you need to come back to the Lord and make Him your Lord and Personal Saviour.

If you have never had an encounter with Christ before, this is an opportunity. A Christian is not a sinner and a sinner is not a Christian

In 1John 5:17(a) explains what is sin? “All unrighteousness is sin:”

Such sin could be bitterness, hatred, pride, lying, anger, contention, malice or bearing grudge; it could be covetousness, envy, backbiting or murmuring, it could be cursing and swearing with heaven and earth.

You need to repent of these sins today and the Lord will show you mercy. Those committing masturbation, fornication, adultery, prostitution, or maybe you patronize prostitute. You need to amend your ways.

As for those who steal or are into armed-robbery; if you are into fraudulent activities e.g 419 repent today and promise God no more unrighteousness. The Lord will show you mercy, and only then will you be qualified to receive from the Lord.
